There’s really nothing like the magic of fireworks lighting up the Colorado sky, and the Denver metro area delivers with some of the most dazzling displays around. Here are some of the best spots to catch the show this year, along with a few tips to make your experience extra safe and memorable.
One of the city’s biggest celebrations and absolutely worth braving the crowd. You’ll enjoy a full evening of live music, food trucks, and a stunning light show projected onto the City and County Building that is all topped off with a full fireworks display.
✅ Pro tip: Arrive early and bring a blanket, because the lawn fills up fast! There’s usually a great communal vibe.
🕗 Fireworks start at dusk which is usually around 9:30 PM.
Boulder’s long-standing tradition returns with patriotic music, local performers, and a massive display at Folsom Field on the CU Boulder campus. It’s an amazing family-friendly environment with Boulder's gorgeous panoramic mountain views that make the fireworks even more dramatic.
✅ Bring ear protection for little ones because it is loud, and this show packs a sonic punch.
Catch fireworks early in Glendale, one of the first metro-area cities to light up the skies. Creekside Park offers a laid-back vibe with super easy parking and a less hectic crowd than the Denver proper celebrations.
✅ Go early and grab dinner at one of the restaurants on Colorado Blvd or Virginia Ave before the show.
This one’s a favorite for west-side folks. Live music, bounce houses, food vendors, and a sky-splitting fireworks finale.
✅ Pack lawn chairs and glow sticks. This one’s great for families who want a more local feel without heading downtown.
A big, traditional suburban fireworks event that always delivers. You’ll find live music, a beer garden, food trucks, and tons of space to spread out.
✅ Park at nearby Arvada West High School and walk over to beat the crowds.
In areas like Highlands, Sunnyside, Ruby Hill, and Park Hill, you’ll often find unofficial neighborhood block parties with grills going, sparklers popping, and even a few amateur fireworks (some legal and some not). These grassroots celebrations have an old-school charm that’s hard to beat.
Bring snacks, water, and bug spray—especially at grassy parks.
Leave the pets at home. Fireworks stress dogs out WAY more than they entertain them.
Check local restrictions if you're planning your own backyard display remember that fire bans are common in July.
